Chinese Library for Children president Ge Huang recently presented an overview of Chinese storytimes across the United States at an exchange forum bringing together the Chinese cultural center and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).

The presentation looked at the current state of Chinese storytime programs and discussed possible paths for their continued growth. Drawing on CLC’s work as a community-led organization, Ge offered a practitioner’s view of how Chinese reading experiences can reach more children and families.

For CLC, the forum offered a chance to bring lessons from local community work into a wider discussion. It also created space to reflect on how individual programs, libraries, families, and volunteers can contribute to the long-term development of Chinese storytimes nationwide.

CLC thanks the organizers for creating an opportunity to share this work and exchange ideas with others who care about the future of Chinese language reading for children.
